The most famous ligers which were born at this zoo were during the year 2005. The name of these ligers was Pingping and Anan. Both of these ligers were male ligers. Currently these ligers are around 9 years of age. The best story about these ligers was that they were the first ligers to born and survive more than 8 years. None of the ligers in the Chinese territory previously survived that much longer. At their mature ages now, these ligers weigh around 700 to 800 pounds in weight which is very normal for the male ligers.

This liger zoo is in operation from at least last 3 decades. First ever ligers were born around the year 2002 at this liger zoo. However; majority of these ligers died right after their birth. The most successful ligers to born at this Liger Zoo were Pingping and Anan. Both of these ligers as mentioned earlier were born during the year 2005. Apart from that during the year 2006, 4 more liger cubs were also born at this liger zoo as well. Currently this liger zoo has produced most numbers of ligers in Asia and most probably around the world than any other liger zoo.

Ligers are placed in separate enclosures at Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park & Botanical Gardens. All the enclosures including the liger enclosures accommodate massive land area with luxury amenities. If the ligers want to swim, there is a huge water pond, where the ligers enjoy and swim. If the ligers prefer to take nap in a muddy, concrete or woody area, all such facilities are available for the ligers at Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park. Similarly for the shelters of the ligers, beautiful caves are built where the ligers love to live. All the ligers seem to be perfectly healthy and look well-fed. Many liger events have been the part of this liger zoo till now. These liger events range from world records to international news publications about their ligers. A female Bengal Tigress at the Hainan Tropical Wildlife Park & Botanical Garden has given birth to record 12 ligers during the span of 5 to 6 years. This is a world record for the ligers’ birth by a female tigress. This liger zoo is the first liger zoo in China where; the ligers were born during the year 2002. Before that year, there was no concept of ligers within Chinese zoos. Today this liger zoo has at least 5 to 6 ligers. Furthermore; one of the biggest events at this liger zoo was the first birthday celebration party of the twin ligers at this zoo. This birthday celebration was important because twin ligers named as Pingping and Anan were the first Chinese ligers at that time to survive that much longer.
